Last Day

Well, today is our last day as a family in one spot until the end of March. For those of you who didn't know, I'm going away for a 10wk training to Biloxi, MS. The daycare here can't take her and Zed is not allowed to be a single dad while in pilot training so she's going to her grandparents.

Tomorrow I fly her to Maryland for her to spend the first 5wks with my parents and then she'll make the trip across the country to spend the last 5wks with Zed's parents in Oregon. She'll come home the last week of March and I will come home a few days later.

As I sit here packing up her stuff for almost 3mo a ton of thoughts are running through my mind. I will miss her first birthday, miss her first glass of milk without formula, miss her last time crawling, miss her first run, miss her growing out of her 9mo clothes. I also think about how big she'll be when she gets home, how much fun she'll have with her grandparents, how she'll ride her first horse, and how she'll come back speaking real words.

The most important thing I've thought about is how lucky Zed and I are to having an amazing family who are willing to foster our crazy beautiful little girl while we further our careers in the Air Force. I don't know of many people who have such a strong support system let alone being comfortable enough to send our daughter to both families for such an extended amount of time.

We will miss Mia and saying goodbye will be the hardest thing we've had to do as parents, but the reunion in March will be one of the best days and one that will be highly looked forward to.

I'll make sure to get pictures constantly and post updates as they happen. Please keep our parents in your thoughts and prayers as they become parents to a toddler again.

Merry Christmas

We are spending this holiday season in Maryland with the Berthiaumes. The drive took us two days, but we stopped at a battleship, Aunt Della's (one of Sam's mom's best friends), and saw friends from the Academy. On the way back to Mississippi, the plan is to drive through the Appalachia mountains and stop in Pigeon Forge, TN for New Years.

We hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mia loved opening gifts. As long as we took the paper away from her as soon as she ripped it she would keep taking more off rather than eat the paper. Gift bags were the easiest for her, she would pull out the paper until she found the gift. It was so sweet to watch her eyes light up.

The most exciting thing to come from Christmas is the announcement of baby #2! That's right, Sam is pregnant and due in July. We'll be sure to continue to keep everyone updated.

We love you all and hope you have a great rest of your holidays and an amazing start to the New Year?

9 months and some change

Today was Mia's 9mo checkup. 9mo means there was no shots!

She weighs 19.4lbs and is 26in long. This puts her in the 50th percentile for weight and 10th for height; she's short like her momma.

The doctor was impressed with her language skills and thought it funny she would say Dada when prompted to say Mama. He was surprised that as agile as she is she isn't walking yet, but said it's a good thing.

We're currently on our way to a Boy Scout Christmas dinner so I'll post pictures once I'm back home with my iPad.

We hope you all have had a great week and will have an awesome Friday.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving

I apologize for this being late. Every time I thought about it over the weekend something would come up. We enjoyed the day spending time with friends from the ward and Mia loved turkey.

Zed went Black Friday shopping and then clay pigeon shooting while Mia and I enjoyed some time together sleeping in.

I know that a 9 month post hasn't been done of Mia yet. She has her check up on Thursday so I'll post everything on that day.

Be sure to stay tuned in the coming weeks. Zed finds out what's next in 8 days, Santa is coming, and Mia will be living grandparents for 3wks.

Halloween 2013

Mia was a Detroit Lions cheerleader and Zed was an AF cheerleader.

Zed is about a month away from finding out what he tracks (helos, fighters or heavies). Once we know what he tracks I'll be sure to do a part about it.

8 months

Happy 8 month birthday Mia!

Mia has two teeth, says Dada when with Zed, and can stand by herself for up to 15sec.
